The President of Kazakhstan emphasized the importance of the country's economic development, highlighting the need to create a diversified and technologically advanced economy. A crucial step in this direction will be the in-depth processing of hydrocarbons, which is necessary for Kazakhstan to occupy a worthy place in the global economy. The government has developed a strategy up to 2040 for the oil refining industry, which sets ambitious goals.
It is planned to gradually increase oil refining capacity from 18 to 38 million tons by 2040. This will be achieved through the expansion of existing plants and the construction of a new one. Improving the ratio between oil production and refining will not only enhance the country's energy security but also reduce dependence on fluctuations in global raw material prices.
This strategy will attract investment, help develop modern technologies, specialist training, and in-depth petrochemical processing. It will also create opportunities for the export of high-quality petroleum products, which will increase the stability of Kazakhstan's economy. Currently, we are observing how our country is moving towards carbon neutrality by 2060, becoming a model for other nations.
